On 15th August 2024, the NutriBudget project hosted a co-creation workshop at the Boreal Pilot Site in south-west Finland. Organised by our project partner Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), the event brought together 24 participants from various sectors focused on soil cultivation and pig and poultry production. These included policymakers, farmers, food and fertiliser companies, and NGOs.
The workshop aimed to gather diverse insights to guide towards the balanced use and recycling of nutrients in the region, with a focus on reducing water impacts, improving manure management and providing alternative protein sources in pig and poultry production. Attendees were provided with an overview of the NutriBudget project, highlighting the mitigation measures under evaluation and the progress achieved so far. A key part of the workshop was the introduction of the pilot field trial testing bio-based fertilisers, offering a practical demonstration of innovative approaches to sustainable agriculture.
The event facilitated in-depth discussions on field actions and fostered collaboration among stakeholders, contributing to the advancement of environmental and agricultural outcomes in south-west Finland.
